One of our favorite parts of building homes in new towns is exploring the local businesses and restaurants in the area. As our new community, Old Mystic Estates in Stonington, CT, starts to take shape, we thought we’d give you a heads up on some of the hot dining spots in nearby Mystic!

Red 36 | 2 Washington Street, Mystic 

Located directly on the Mystic River, Red 36 is known for its fresh seafood and extensive raw bar, but also for its burgers, flatbread pizzas, and gluten free menu. In other words, there’s something for everyone. There’s also extensive outdoor dining, and a dock for those who arrive by boat. 

 

S&P Oyster | 1 Holmes Street, Mystic

How do you set your seafood restaurant apart from all the others? Install a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef from Ecuador, of course! S&P’s talented chef adds an international flair to the local fresh seafood. You’ll find ceviche, paella, risotto, and bouillabaisse alongside the usual classics. 

 

Engine Room | 14 Holmes Street, Mystic

Sometimes, you just need to lose yourself in a plate of hot wings or mac & cheese. This is your place. 

Located in the restored Lathrop Marine Engine building with views of the Mystic River, Engine Room has an extensive menu of American comfort food, craft beers, and the area’s largest bourbon selection.
